Kim is a Theatre Director and Writer. She graduated with an MA in Text and Performance at RADA and Birkbeck in 2018, after studying Film and Television Production at the University of Hertfordshire. Kim has worked extensively in the industry for over eight years, as a Director, Writer and Stage Manager. She is also a Drama and Musical Theatre teacher, having taught for companies in Hertfordshire such as Splitz, Stagecoach and The Barn Theatre. Kim also founded Mimic Theatre Company, Youth Theatre and Stage School.
Recent directing credits include: 30 Minutes (Theatre N16), Indignitas (Cockpit Theatre), My Recollection (Intermission Theatre), Growing Pains (RADA), The Rattlesnake's Kiss - Frontier Trilogy (Hen and Chickens Theatre), Bag Lady (Barons Court Theatre - Actor Awareness Festival). As Assistant Director: Gertrude the Cry (Theatre N16), Blackhander (Theatre N16), Twelfth Night (UK Tour). Writing credits include: 30 Minutes (Theatre N16 and Intermission Theatre), Bana and Mary (Original Impact, Centre17), Growing Pains (RADA). Kim has also directed countless youth musicals and plays for theatre schools and in festivals around Hertfordshire.
Dean Tanner - Technical Director
Dean graduated from The University of the Lincoln in 2012 with a degree in Film and Media. He has worked in Television for the past five years, in various roles. Most recently Dean has assistant produced the last few series of long-running Channel 5 documentary series GPs Behind Closed Doors. Other credits include: Breaking the Taboo (Sundog Pictures), 24 Hours in A&E (Channel 4), 24 Hours in Police Custody (Channel 4), The Detectives (BBC2) (Channel 4), and Tyger Takes On (BBC 3). Dean has assisted in youth productions both with Splitz School of Dance and Drama and the Barn Theatre. Dean is also the Photographer and Technical Assistant of Mimic Stage School. His various roles with Mimic include ASM, sound and photographer on shows including: Fame Jr, Dreams of Anne Frank and The Jungle Book.
Mary Portalska - Show & Admin Assistant
Mary has been involved in theatre for the last four years, helping behind the scenes on a variety of shows including The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz and Spamalot, as well as several pantomimes. She loves sourcing and making costumes (with limited sewing skills!) and is always ready backstage with a safety pin. She likes the challenge of finding and creating props (her favourite tool is her hot glue gun!) and has also been involved with designing and painting theatre sets. Last year she wrote a pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, which was performed by local theatre group Digswell Players in Welwyn, as well as four other theatre groups around the country. She is excited about being part of the Mimic team and is looking forward to being involved in their amazing shows.
Lewis White - Graphic Designer
Lewis has been designing the graphics for Mimic since it was created in early 2018. By day, Lewis is a Digital Services Manager, skilled in Digital Transformation, Process redevelopment, Agile Project Management, Corporate Website Management, Internal Communication and Graphic Design. Lewis graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) focused in Business Education from Nottingham Trent University.
Billy - Mimic Dog
Billy has been involved in the company since its creation in early 2018. Billy has assisted in the distribution of marketing and appeared at the various events Mimic has attended over 2018. He can generally be seen pottering around the Mimic office dropping food pellets over the floor for the directors to tidy when they have nothing else to do.
